Keith Mason’s son Lukas has been handed a scholarship by the Wigan Warriors following a successful period at the club.

Mason senior, who played for the likes of Wakefield Trinity, St Helens, Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers in Super League, was in attendance as his teenage son starts the long road to a professional contract.

He is not only the former professional rugby league father to have a son heading into the world of the sport, with Leon Pryce in tandem with son Will lighting up the arena for the Huddersfield Giants in the 2021 Super League season.

Keith Mason himself is currently going into the realm of acting, starring in a new film, Imperative.

He has previously appeared in the film Skin Traffik alongside Mickey Rourke and Daryl Hannah, and has subsequently appeared in the TV series Peaky Blinders.

Whilst Mason senior looks destined for a role in Hollywood, son Lukas is gearing up for a life on the pitch just like his father.

“He started playing at Clockface when he was 6 until 11 then he went to Orrell St James’ where he captained them,” Mason senior said about son Lukas.

He was there until he was 14 and he’s played at Siddal RLFC from the under 14s and just won the 1st division champions.

“Wigan have been watching Lukas since playing at Rainford High from 11 – the now-Wigan coach Matty Peet, alongside John Jackson and Jack Roden spotted him.”
