Super League Man of Steel latest points revealed as Jai Field extends dominance at top

The Wigan Warriors fullback claimed another big points haul at the weekend

Jai Field is now five points clear at the top of the Super League Man of Steel leaderboard. Field picked up another maximum three-point haul at the weekend after starring in Wigan's victory over Hull FC.

It means Field has 15 points from just a possible 21, making him the clear leader at the top of the table after the latest points hauls were revealed by Super League. Field is now five points ahead of St Helens forward Sione Mata'utia, who sits on 10 and didn't earn any points after he failed to feature for the Saints in their win at Leeds on Friday evening rugby

Field was joined in the point-scoring by Wigan team-mates Liam Farrell and Cade Cust on Thursday, who earned two and one point respectively for their performances against the Black and Whites.


James Roby's 500th game for the Saints saw him collect three points, while team-mates Jonny Lomax scored two and Morgan Knowles picked up the remaining point after the reigning champions were convincing winners at Leeds Rhinos.

Huddersfield forward Chris Hill doubled his points tally for the season on Friday, as he picked up the top points haul after the Giants defeated top four rivals Catalans Dragons. Two more forwards picked up the other points too, as Josh Jones and Danny Levi scored two and one respectively as Ian Watson's side continued their fine start to 2022.

Hull KR were convincing winners against Warrington, and unsurprisingly, three Rovers played collected the Man of Steel points on offer. Matt Parcell picked up three, Ryan Hall scored two and Lachlan Coote gained the remaining point.

There were also three Castleford players in the points after their upturn in form continued with victory against Toulouse. Prop Liam Watts' excellent display earned him three points, his first Man of Steel points of 2022, while Bureta Faraimo and Kenny Edwards also collected points.

The final game of last weekend saw Wakefield grind out a victory against Salford, largely thanks to some heroics from Tom Johnstone in the first half. Johnstone's performance earned him the maximum three Man of Steel points, while Salford half-back Marc Sneyd got two and Corey Hall picked up one.

Great news about Field especially as I thought we had a better chance of keeping French because he’s missed so much more game time, can’t see an NRL team coming for him unless he has a sensational season so here’s hoping

This would be a mistake, Great player but not a team player.

I think he is a team player. I just think it was the bad coaching of the team in his last season at Wigan that made him look like that

Maybe Jai Field would be a success in the halves, he's played there in the NRL occasionally, whilst we know on form, how good French is at 1.

Can’t see Hastings coming back there was a lot of stories going round when he left about going to a Salford leaving do and slagging Wigan off saying he regretted going there, and that was from a couple of reliable posters it was also rumoured he upset a lot of people at Wigan but it was nothing concrete but can’t see it myself
