Abbas Miski stole the show, scoring four tries in a stellar performance as Wigan eased to victory against Toulouse Olympique on Friday night.
Abbas Miski completed a first half hat-trick as Wigan made light work of Toulouse in the opening forty. Liam Farrell and Bevan French also crossed for scores as they ran up a 28-0 lead before the break.
Toulouse responded through Peyroux but second half efforts from Jai Field and a fourth for Abbas Miski saw Wigan take a resounding win back at home.

It was the perfect start for Wigan as they went over almost immediately. Racing their way upfield they shifted the ball right, all the way to the wing for Miski to dive in at the right corner and open the scoring. Harry Smith added the conversion from the touchline for 6-0 after 5 minutes.
Wigan were asking questions again from the restart as Jai Field and Bevan French combined before being stopped meters short, Brad Singleton was then held up over the line before a pass to the wing was knocked on by Marcon to deny a certain try on the left edge. The pressure did tell though as Liam Farrell forced his way over in the 9th minute to make it 10-0.
Wigan extended their lead in the 20th minute as a knock on from Toulouse allowed them a full set from short range. Once again Wigan shifted it right for Bevan French to bat the ball on to the wing for Miski to grab his second of the evening, converted by Smith for 16-0.
Abbas Miski completed a first half hat-trick just after the half hour mark as Wigan found joy again to see the winger go in with ease at the corner for his third, Harry Smith added the extras from the touchline again to make it 22-0.
Bevan French completed the half with another fine effort with help from Liam Marshall in the build up, before racing away to score on the left hand side of the posts. Harry Smith made no mistake with the conversion to see Wigan out to 28-0. Kaide Ellis left the field shortly before the break with a knee injury as Wigan went into the sheds with a comfortable lead over Toulouse.
Wigan were playing some ruthless rugby as they piled on the pressure from the off. Bevan French thought he had added to his tally in the 44th minute as he put a grubber kick through and chased himself but he couldn’t ground the ball before the dead ball line to give Toulouse the ball back.
The visitors did get their reward for some persistence as a penalty allowed Toulouse into the Wigan half and a good play on the right edge allowed Dominic Peyroux to break the line and go over for the try. Chris Hankinson added the extras to make it 28-6.
The Warriors hit back though as Jai Field produced a moment of brilliance, catching a looping pass before throwing a dummy step and weaving his way to the line to crash over, Harry Smith added a fifth conversion of the evening to extend the lead to 34-6.
Not content with a hat-trick, Abbas Miski added his fourth score of the evening on 62 minutes as he latched onto a sublime pass from Bevan French to race down the wing and touch down. Harry Smith was on target with the extras as Wigan made it 40-6.
Wigan tried their best to add more to the performance, but Bevan French couldn’t complete a good chase before Abbas Miski’s inside ball to Jai Field go to ground to deny any further scores as Wigan took a fantastic 40-6 victory.

Matt Peet offered his thought as Wigan took a strong win against Toulouse on Friday night.
Peet: “The players, the fans and the staff of the Club – there is a real sense of pride in the badge at the moment.”

Matt Peet said he was pleased with the performance as Wigan beat Toulouse but praised the involvement of the Club and fans after an outstanding night at Robin Park Arena and the DW Stadium.
“I’m really pleased but the performance is just a small part of it,” he said. “The atmosphere, the momentum we’re building around the Club, the fan village, the Armed Forces v Police game, in and around the ground – there’s a lot of great things being done by the Club at the moment led by Kris Radlinski and Ian Lenegan.
“The players, the fans and the staff of the Club – there is a real sense of pride in the badge at the moment. The fan village over at Robin Park Arena took around 5 hours to set up, it’s our training facility every other day so the Community staff that we have, everyone mucks in. There’s that team first mentality which runs through not only the squad but through the Club. That’s what we wanted to do, that’s what the vision was.”
On the game, he said: “It was about the start wasn’t it. Sylvain (Houles) said that every game is like their Grand Final, so we had to be prepared for the best of them and if we dipped our form in any way, they would’ve sensed that. It was a really tricky fixture with the talent they’ve got spread across the team, but I thought we started with an intensity that can set us apart. We played fast, with intensity and the effort, that is what got us the win in the end and I thought the start was crucial.”
Peet also spoke highly of Abbas Miski, who scored four tries on the right wing: It’s testament to his hard work, it’s not an easy Club to come to and fit in straight away, the expectations are high here and Abbas has come to terms with that. His effort away from the game has been excellent; he’s a popular member of the squad. He’s earned the right to get more opportunities, he’s pushed his way forward in that back line and I thought tonight was a great reward for his hard work.”
Peet summarised: “It’s really important that we got our home form going again, got the fans on the journey with us and they were more than on the journey. I think the fans were the star of the show, not just in the stadium but around the ground too, there’s a great vibe. We have a responsibility as performance staff and the first team to give the town a team to be proud of.”
