Partington leaves Wigan
Wigan Warriors confirm that Oliver Partington has left the Club and joined Salford Red Devils on a permanent deal.
A product of Wigan’s Academy system, prop forward Partington played 92 games for his hometown Club, scoring five tries.
One of those tries came at Hull KR in August this year when Partington proudly led out a young Warriors team and captained Wigan for the first time.
Head Coach, Matt Peet, said: “Salford have got themselves an outstanding character for the next two years. In Oliver he is a player and a person we are immensely proud of and wish all the best for the future. I wish to thank Oliver for his attitude and commitment since joining Wigan as a Scholarship player. He has given it his all and is a credit to himself and his family.”
Everyone at Wigan Warriors thanks Oliver for his time at the Club and wishes him all the best for the future.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

All the best to the lad. A few years ago I thought he could be the real deal but he never kicked on the way Smithies has. Lots of guts and aggression. There's a player in there and I'm sure he will improve with more game time at Salford

I've made my views very clear on The Rumour Mill thread! Like Josie said, hopefully he's back in two years or so etc.
There's no doubt someone needed to give way considering the numbers we have in the front row, reality for me is though, not all the options ahead of Oli are head n shoulders above him!
Hope he goes well at Salford!

Slightly different when a player agrees. If a player requests to leave you can obviously come to an agreement but unless another club comes in for Ellis, I doubt he would be inclined to just accept not having a jobFirestarter wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 3:19 pmDunno ask hardaker
