Pre-season gallery: Week 1

Post by josie andrews »

Pre-season officially began this week as a number of first team players returned to Robin Park Arena.

With just 12 weeks to go until the start of the new Betfred Super League campaign, the hard work and preparation has now started.

The likes of Joe Shorrocks, Morgan Smithies and Brad O’Neill returned to Wigan’s training base on Monday and they were joined by one of the Club’s new recruits, Jake Wardle.

On Day 1, all players were in the gym for testing and then took on the yo-yo running test – consisting of 20m shuttle runs on the indoor running track.

The rest of the week saw the players do more running on the 3G pitches, before a number of rugby ball passing sessions, strength challenges and workout exercises.

All of this was under the watchful eyes of Matt Peet, Sean O’Loughlin and new Assistant Coach Thomas Leuluai.

On Friday, Toby King started his first day with the Club alongside Willie Isa, Liam Marshall, Sam Powell, Harry Smith, Brad Singleton and Ethan Havard who started their pre-season testing. Saturday morning saw a number of players take to Haigh Hall for more running, with more players set to return on Monday.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
