Pearce-Paul to leave Wigan

Second Rower to leave the Club at the end of 2023

Pearce-Paul will join an NRL Club in 2024

Club ‘disappointed to lose Kai but expect a big 2023 from him’

Wigan Warriors confirm that Kai Pearce-Paul will leave the Club at the end of the 2023 season.

The 21-year-old will remain for his fourth campaign with Wigan in 2023 before taking up an opportunity in the NRL.

Since arriving at Wigan in 2020, Pearce-Paul has played 38 games for the first team, scoring four tries.

Executive Director, Kris Radlinski: “We are all disappointed to lose Kai.

“Having paid a transfer fee to London Broncos three years ago, our coaches have developed a very raw talent into an international rugby league player.

“We presented Kai with a very attractive and long-term contract. Ultimately, Kai’s desire to go to the NRL was the determining factor.

“Kai is committed to Wigan for the 2023 season before leaving for Australia at the end of the year. He is an impressive young man who has been a pleasure to work with over the past few years.

“We expect a big year from Kai and then we will wish him well on his new adventure.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Wish the lad well - just hope he doesn't do a Gildart and give 50%

I’ve no issue with him at all,he’s clearly got a plan to move up,as he sees it from club to club to further his career,I’m not sure if he will make a splash in the NRL as he’s not the finished article I hope they give him time and develop him further as he is an outstanding prospect and it’s a shame super league is loosing him.

Both were heavily rumoured to be going to the knights weren't they? the Dolphins made a play for KPP but not sure where he is going, hopefully this follows the usual trend of "bad" news followed by some good news announcement wise.

Disappointed he’s leaving but he’s seeing out his contract so cannot complain as long as he gives it 100%.

Such ashame for the club and league that we lose players like KPP and Pryce to the NRL and cannot get equivalents in return.

Who can blame them though? Better competition, more money and a better quality of life.

Good luck!
