Great work by the club in local schools

Post by southportcdm »

I've just been on the club website and caught up with some of the work that the club is doing in the local schools - very impressive, well done to everybody concerned.

The WW Community Foundation work not only with schools but with different community groups within the Borough every Friday at this time of year.

A few players were helping out at the Brick warehouse. Others were at schools giving sessions.

There is the Community Memories Garden at Robin Park which has a special Memories Wall for people if they wish to, purchase plaques in memory of loved ones who have passed or just for people who wish to contribute to their memories of being a Wigan Warriors supporter.

They provided a Christmas Dinner for the local Wigan Rugby Memories Group with some of the players serving them with their dinners. Billy Boston & his wife Joan attended.

There are so many things throughout the year that the WWCF are involved with.

It’s a fantastic service they provide for everyone & should be commended 😊

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I tend to find these little bits a bit cringeworthy. "Rugby players visit regular people with ordinary jobs", however that wasn't too bad.

I remember when saints players went to cash converters. If I worked there I'd feel a little patronised. Either way, the wigan warriors work in the community has always been first rate
