Wigan Warriors forward Kaide Ellis has spoken to Wigan TV describing how the sides pre-season has been going, as well as mentioning the efforts of some of their new faces.

In a video that Wigan posted to Twitter, Ellis described the return to training and recounted his first impressions of the new signings.

“It’s been tough, this time of year you expect big days. Lots of running, lots of gym and lots of skills,” the forward explained.

It’s necessary that a lot of hard work goes into this period before Christmas but it was nice to be back. It’s been a while since I’ve been away from the lads, good to see some new faces and old faces as well.”

Those new faces that he describes are Jake Wardle who has arrived from Huddersfield after impressing at Warrington and Toby King who has joined on loan from the Wire.

Jake and Toby have fit in really well, they’re good people, good players. They’re both very quiet and sort of stick to themselves but you get them going a bit and they have a bit of a laugh.

“From what I’ve seen in skills they’re going to be tremendous assets.”

Wigan will kick their season off in the Channel 4 opener on Sunday 18th as they travel to Hull KR, but will have a pre season in Cumbria facing Whitehaven and Barrow before fans will get a chance to see those new players at home to Salford Red Devils in their final game before the Super League kicks off.
