Channel 4 tease return of Wigan Warriors’ stars with Martin Offiah interview
One of the key reasons for the incredible scoring prowess was the electric duo of Bevan French and Jai Field in Wigan’s backline with the pair linking up to terrorise defences across Super League.
Both players worked their way into the Dream Team and French put himself on top of the try-scoring charts with an incredible 31 tries in just 20 games.
His most impressive achievement was certainly his record-breaking seven-try performance against Hull FC.
In just over three weeks Field and French will take to the Super League field again as they visit Craven Park to play Willie Peters’ Hull KR on opening weekend in a game televised on Channel 4.
The broadcaster, in their second year showing Super League, sent Wigan legend Martin Offiah, who is now one of very few men to have scored more tries in a single game than French, to speak with the pair.
In a video posted to Channel 4’s Twitter the Australian duo explained what made their partnership so deadly.
“We always talk about linking up out of the backfield and you just look at which way the hips are facing on the defenders,” French explained.
Field added: “We played a lot of footy against each other back in Australia, he’s a year older so I’ve always tried to emulate what he’s done so I credit a lot of my game to him, but it’s nice to play with him for a change.”
