Post by josie andrews »

Wigan Warriors Women’s Season Launch, sponsored by Global-13, is less than one week away.

Hosted by Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks, the evening promises to be a flavour of the commitment to the growth of the Women’s game from the Club.

Join host Jenna Brooks on Saturday 25th March as we kick off the 2023 Betfred Women’s Super League with a night of live music, chat and presentations – in association with Global-13.

Sky Sports’ Reporter, Jenna Brooks, will be on hand to host throughout the evening which kicks off at 6pm as our Wigan Warriors Women’s first team and Girls’ Academy teams will be presented to the fans ahead of the 2023 season, with the Women’s first team receiving their playing shirt for the season from their sponsors.

There will be live music from ‘The Voice UK’ contestant Hayley Eccles, alongside dad Geno Eccles who also appeared on the hit TV show, as well as guest speakers, stilt walkers and a chance to meet and greet the Women’s team and Girls Academy players for the upcoming season. Food and drink will be available on the evening from our food vendors and bars.

Wigan Warriors Women are still to face Leigh Leopards and Barrow Raiders in pre-season friendlies before the highly anticipated season opener away at last year’s BWSL Group 2 champions Warrington Wolves on Sunday 16th April. You can find all the fixtures for Wigan Warriors Women’s first team HERE.

Global-13, who feature on the rear of the Women’s team shorts, will be sponsoring the event. Chief Executive, Jason Harborow said: “Global-13 is a massive supporter of Women’s and Girls Rugby League. We sponsor Wigan St Patrick’s, Wigan St Jude’s and we are also a proud sponsor of Wigan Warriors Women too. We are delighted to sponsor the season launch for the Women’s team – they work so hard and dedicate so much time, so it’s great that they will have a special night with friends, family and fans and we are pleased to help make the event possible.”

Chief Executive Director, Kris Radlinski added: “The Women’s launch event at Robin Park Arena will be a fantastic start to the new Betfred Women’s Super League season and will mark a new era for Women’s and Girls Rugby League at the Wigan Warriors.

“In Addition to the senior Women’s team, the Academy girls will also mark the start of their season. We will demonstrate the pathway in the sport and also present heritage numbers to the Women who have represented the Club. We will treat this night with the same level of detail as our senior Men’s launch night. You will have seen from recent communication regarding jobs on offer that Wigan Warriors Women mean business in 2023.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Good luck to them
I have supported Wigan RL since the late 80s. First game was a cup tie v Barrow. Also a fan of football and Speedway. Have a varied taste in music.
