Good to see that Hill and Nsemba didn't look out of place at all. Mago didn't pull up any trees, but at least he did longer minutes today (or so it seemed), and didn't do anything stupid.

Thought Wigan were pretty awful on attack against a woeful Wakefield side. Wigan seemed to force the pass on about the second tackle close to the line and come up with an error a few times and Smith tried kicks behind the line when nothing was on with the rest of the Wigan attack too far back.

Isa will now probably get a ban and I am convinced the ref wasn’t going to blow at first never mind sin bin him.

Hill and Nsemba did OK but overall a very disjointed performance from Wigan.

Listening to the radio and reading DaveOs comments above sounds like this was an almost perfect week before a break. Dropping off slightly on the intensity, having a bit of squad rotation but not too much, and getting the result and going top of the league. Perfect.

IMO now is not the time to be building momentum because it's not sustainable for the entire season, that should be happening in the last 10 games. But you know, that's just my opinion so I won't be getting angry if people disagree.

Not a game to remember after three great wins. Must be difficult to get mentally up for this one and they looked tired. Wanted to play before we earned the right to. Good time for a week off.

I don’t think he thought it was a penalty or he’d have blown straight after the tackle. The ref was lining up with the Wigan players ready for the next play.

My sentiments exactly. Would have been a bonus to match the handicap bet but this was more like a training exercise with the result never in doubt.
I'll take the two points and move on rather than psycho analyse, that's for the armchair specialistz.

NICKYKISS wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 9:38 am It’s not really about rests for me, it’s more about getting guys like Hill and Nsemba a chance to play first team and ready them for what could be more games in the coming weeks (we’re one injury/suspension in the pack away from them playing now). If we don’t do that against Wakey, when do we? You respect all your opponents but let’s be honest here, if we play those 2 and we lose, it’s will all be on the teams general attitude and not because we rested a couple of players.

I’m assuming Faz plays for England next week, so he’d be one I’d rest. I’d also pick Havard for England next week, so he’d be the other I’d give the week off but you could make a case for Isa or Powell getting a rest, given that their faces are absolutely battered.
I think thats bang on, introduce Hill when we can and not when we have to in a bigger game. I'd only rest those carrying knocks including Marshy if he his still suffering from the cut on his foot. Interesting that Eckersley is in the squad ahead of Thornley.
Yes its odd picking eckersley in front of him.The lads been playing well but is thornley injured? It wouldnt suprise me
Iain is ready to go, he is just waiting for his opportunity.
