Off-contract Wigan winger Abbas Miski proving his worth says coach
Wigan winger Abbas Miski currently has the challenge of both fighting for his place in the team and a new contract for 2024.
And head coach Matt Peet insists he has been impressed by the Australian winger, stating he can’t fault his performances in 2023.
Miski, 27, joined the Warriors from London Broncos ahead of the 2022 season, and does have an option for a third year in his contract for next year

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

We’ve activated his one year option.

And cue DaveO to go on about how Matty Peet said Miski had done nothing wrong in his last outings, but he made that one knock on against Wakefield. (Joking!)

Extending his contract.... Just shows that Rads and IL have no vision. I blame Shaun Wane. Penny pinching job for boys signing Subpar players while other teams sign stars such as Luke Gale.
What has this great club become. The gang of four wouldn't stand for this.

These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Abbas has really improved this season but I assumed that we'd release him to free up a quota spot. Matty's comments seem to suggest that he's happy with one quota signing (to replace Mago) next season and that he intends to play Jai at 6 from now on. Assuming that nobody unexpected leaves, and we give Cooper time to recover, we'll need two props and a backrower next season and two of those will have to be non quota.

Just had another thought (it is late for me to be posting) - If Jai is first choice at 6 from now on perhaps Matty is expecting Cust to leave which would of course free up another quota spot.

If there’s no youngster coming through, makes sense keeping him on. He’s improved this season also

I see no reason not to keep him on and in the first team

I think matty will tinker with both bevan and abbas on the wing. When the warmer conditions come theres no substitute for pace.Like ive always said its a good problem to have
