Joel to Union

Post by Dobby »

Following on from the Sam to Union thread, I have heard from a very good source that Joel is as good as gone and wont be seen again in a Wigan shirt. It certainly doesnt bode well for keeping Sam much longer, especially seeing that they both signed with the same agent who specialises in cross code moves.

Worryingly, I have heard the same as Dobby. Saracens! Huge mistake IMO.

If this is true it's really worrying for the sport as a whole, not just Wigan. Must admit I'd be very disappointed too considering a 5 year deal was signed before this current season commenced.

If Joel has gone then I hope Mr L has made Sarries pay substantial compo to us.

It would be a quick change though to commit to Wigan for 5 years then after 1 decide to switch to union. Like I said, if it's true I would be disappointed as no doubt would other Wigan supporters.

Other than financial Cherry it will be a very bad move for Joel because he is not suited to Union IMO. It also throws up why sign for 5 years to then decide you want to leave? what happened to playing alongside Logan?

Personally, I think Joel has got carried away with his own hype and believes he is something that he is not.

Wigan will be compensated I believe.

It's time for the RFL to sort their act out or ship out, they're going to drive fans away from the game if they continue to allow it to be used as a feeder for union to sign our young talent.

Salary cap needs to change, any player brought through the clubs academy system who remains at the same club in 1st grade shouldn't count on the cap at all.

Start rewarding clubs who promote their own and rewarding young talent.

I do think not playing alongside Logan would be disappointing for the family. I also think he'd actually be fairly well suited to union. He could play inside centre (crash ball style), outside centre (he's got pace and power) or winger (same as). Could also play flanker if he learned the role.
It's a difficult switch but he would have more time on his side than many other converts.
Joel is a second rower Cherry. At centre even in League he is frequently out of his depth. He was one of our worst players v Saints. He does not run the ball in al a crash ball hit ups. I predict that bar financially this move will be a disaster for Joel.

Not just Wigan the alarm bells will be ringing across the whole of the RL if Union can come in and cherry pick our best players. The Salary Cap in effect has devalued the pay that our top players can get in another thread it was stated that Rads was on far much money than the players in SC years.
Ashton ,Eastmond if true Joel and would Sam follow soon after???? in the past Jason Robinson and Fazz have taken the bigger paypacket out of RL onto the bigger stage of RU .RL wants to rethink its policies towards the SC and pay the players top ups above the Club levels like cricket did and pay them what they are worth .Ive watched RL for 60 years now and at this moment in time IMO if changes are not made the RL in the UK will die.

Working from another cpw thread I as you to think???????
I am a young rugby league player, I have put my body on the line. My team is the best there is. It has been a long season and my body hurts but the finishingg line becons. Silverwear for the taking. The play off are decided not on rl but on refs call. Unballanced decission. What appears to be an agenda from redhall to get their wish in WHO PLAYS WHO. Then we are finished, Hard game against cats that should not have been us and StH gets the walk through. End of season, end of dream. Throuroughly disillusioned and my agent walks in and says. Saracens are offering you treble what you get now. Are you interesrted. I am gonna say no. Get real. Joel may like the game if the honesty returns but as is he should look for his suitcase. Jim
