How is that possible when they don't win trophies and they pay for the upkeep of a stadium
Do all these other teams invest as much off the pitch as Wigan do ?
Orrell and developing Central Park/Robin Park must take a fair chunk of cash out of the pot. No other club can invest as much as Wigan do. Just a thought.
If he's not making the money then maybe he should stop investing in everything under the sun

IL's probably making a profit on everything under the sun hence why he can afford to put money into Wigan RL.

You may have a point there

If IL's other businesses are covering the rugby's deficit then we should be grateful for that, after all he can do what he likes with his own money.
We don't know what the bottom line is at Wigan, all we see are the off field developments like Robin Park, the continued success of the Academy plus of course the on field successes of the First team.
So why the gripe, and Warrington, for all their investment in NRL superstars over the years, have been far less successful than us.

The reason he invests as much as he does in these areas imo are because we do not have our own ground. People can say what they like but grounds run and used well make money.

He will sell Orrell for housing development and make a huge profit and if i am not mistaken the council own part of the Robin Park and have put a grant into Robin Park for its development. Dont forget D W got £13.5 million for the old Central Park from Tesco towards the D W stadium and an input from the council.

Ian Lennagan as planning was previously granted for the previous piece of land so a president has been set, and is just a case of applying for planning application & worth millions of pounds :o

If Orrell is listed as a company asset of the club then the money goes to the club. Whether the money is then used to payback loans from IFL or to reinvest in the new training centre at Robin Park is the question. I believe that the club have been granted planning permission to build over part of the car park at Robin Park arena so looks that at least some of the money will be put back into the club.

The sale of the Orrell ground was agreed over 12 months ago. However there maybe a problem with planning permission as the only access is via Edge Hall Road and that is very narrow. If you built say between 50 and 100 houses on there it would be a major problem

The previous building on the site used a road from Moor Road, much more accessible, but there is no way you can get onto the Orrell training ground using that access.
