Some games last year he looked good, others average, others went missing.

The only way to find out is to give him game time. Some players show how good they are quickly, some take a little longer. When Shaun O’ Loughlin got his break into the first team he took a little time to find his feet ( in my opinion), that’s player development. The coach should know if he is ready — that’s what he’s paid for. It’s a fine line only helped by watching training sessions and noting attitude . I hope we’ve got a good coach as that could make or break any player.
