I was lead to believe we don't want to announce signings like this close to the potential Willliams to Wire announcement, not sure I believe that though. I've asked countless times why we don't announce things in a timely manner.

I would have thought the club would be better off not announcing signings of this calibre at all, and publicising things like, say, extending Smithies’ contract. We all know the game well enough to know that these are bang average players.

It was for free (final year terminated by mutual agreement) but not sure if he has a move lined up, I would imagine he does.
