I didn't say we should go back to Wane but your view of Wane being outdated is based on what exactly? His last year as coach he won the SL? So it just sounds like your opinion, not based on absolutley nothing factual. How can it be jobs the boys, it would be based on Merit, with what he has won?

Be careful what you wish for, you clearly wanted a change from Wane and that's proven to work out hasn't it?

You sound like someone who would never be happy. You probably didn't even enjoy the success under Wane?

Not saying it's the right approach but is the club policy.
IL did cover this and we simply cannot afford to do it.

We have had lot's of success operating this way.
I have to say on this issue I totally agree with IL unless the back room staff all up sticks and leave the sport as a whole can’t replace back room staff chosen by a certain coach after he may leave after a year it’s too much risk for a cash poor sport
It depends what you classify as backroom staff.

It’s quite common in team sports for the manager and assistant to be seen as a team. When the manager goes the assistant also often leaves. If they have the same length of contract this wouldn’t cost Wigan any money paying off the assistant.

When it comes to physios and other more fitness oriented staff like Bitcon used to be I would not expect them to be cleared out. You just have to hope the club is ambitious enough to recruit the best and not just ex players but I do not see anything wrong with a coach bringing in an additional member of staff at the same time as he joins the club.

Why would IL be opposed to this? Like I said if the contract length is the same given IL never fires a coach he will never face a payment to settle contracts terminated early.

If a prospective coach wants to bring in someone like an attack coach and IL says “no” then sorry you are only going to get coaches who need the job enough to work under that constraint. Others may feel they are on a hiding to nothing if they can’t do this sort of thing so won’t come which is supposedly one reason Edward’s got cold feet. It’s part of a pay peanuts get monkeys way of running things.

No one needs to be sacked for the coach to bring in a specialist either. Redeployment to junior teams for example (it happened to Lam who went from assistant to under 21 coach). Sure the wage bill goes up but there is no salary cap on coaches and if someone’s nose gets pushed out of joint they aren’t assistant any more they can look for a job elsewhere. It’s what other people have to do in other industries if they feel their path is blocked. It’s not supposed to be a job for like at a pro sports club anyway.

No us fans are quite entitled to moan we spend hard earned cash and plenty of it I have 3 season tickets. And with the squad we have should not be watching the shxt we have been served up as for Edward's he is nothing but a shxt who used the club who made him a star to get more money out of union never intended to come to Wigan. Wane is outdated predictable boring rubbish England job will prove that. Sick of all this job's for the boys tripe if you're happy with that fine but don't expect me to be and not complain about it. Believe it or not Wigan are in big trouble and if you think matty peet with wane is the answer then you're deluded.
Watch the 2013 GF we were anything but predictable and boring.
Where in 2021 and you can only find 1 game 😂
I can find far more than that but your view of Waney is totally wide of the mark. Tell me what areas the Club has moved forward since he left? He has been our most successful coach in the SL era.

Like i have said time will tell who is right. With England he probably at this time has best pool of talent for decades let's wait and see how he assembles a team and how he plays them. Can't argue with facts.

I understand this is at least the third time the club have met/spoken to Briers, They are impressed with what he had to say, there's a real possibility he forms part of our new set up along with Peat, Lockers & Possibly Leuluai.

I also have been told the club have offered to fund Manfredi's coaching badges if that is a route he would like to go down.

Nice touch from the club with reference to Manfredi.

I have no issues in how the club are choosing staff, if they are good enough to select a head coach then surely selecting assistants is within their remit too.

People’s issue seems to be who they choose.

Personally hope Briers does come on board, he would offer something different and hopefully offer a lot to our attacking plays.

Me too 😊
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
