Matty Smith

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

Matty Smith guided the team well and had a good kicking game. He knew his limitations and played to his strengths. The advantage he had was he was playing behind a very good pack.

He would have struggled playing behind the Wigan pack of last season. I would have loved to have seen
Jackson Hastings working his magic with the luxury of a more dominant go forward pack!!!!

You are all missing the point that we have already signed one, Lee Briers!!

People need to take the nostalgia goggles off with Matty Smith.

Another player who lacked sufficient pace for the position he played in.

Would a young Matty Smith be better then what looks to be our half back pairing for next season? Yes in my opinion but it that’s not hard.

Matty Smith did well for us, after years of slagging off we missed him when he left.
However even if he wasn't way to old now he isn't what we need. At the time we had Williams to offer an attack threat while Smith controlled the play.

We are missing an attacking threat and a controlling half for 22.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

I agree Matty Smith had no pace, is he better than what we have got? No. Field and Smith have improvement in them.

Haven’t you contradicted yourself there?

Saying that Matty smith is a controlling half and we need one?

No I'm saying even if he was young enough we are missing both side and bringing in a player who is good at one but not the other won't do us any good.

Lets put this one to bed shall we?

Smith is NOT coming back and Wigan would be more than reckless to even entertain the thought

Now if we are looking at offering him a coaching position I'm sure there must be something the club forgot to appoint a coach for
