The Warriors are linked with a move for the New Zealand outside-back

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has confirmed that several players will be departing the Stade Gilbert Brutus at the end of 2022, including outside-back Dean Whare, who is linked with a move to Wigan Warriors according to French publication L'Indepedant.

Whare, 32, has played in a number of roles for McNamara this season, can fit in almost anywhere in the back-line and could be seen as Wigan's replacement for Bevan French with the superstar is rumoured to be heading home to the NRL at the end of the year. The former Brisbane Broncos star has made 33 appearances for the Dragons over two years, scoring five tries.-

The Warriors have already secured Toby King for next season on a season-long loan from Warrington Wolves but they never secured a replacement for Zak Hardaker after his mid-season exit to Leeds Rhinos while Jake Bibby will join Huddersfield Giants in 2023.

Samisoni Langi, who has been in the South of France since 2018 and is set to play for France in this year's World Cup after qualifying to play on the residency rule, announced on his social media that he would also be leaving the club, along with Benjamin Jullien, who is set to move to a French side in Elite 1 to pursue a job in the fire department. In addition, local trio Mathieu Cozza, Corentin Le Cam and Romain Franco are also leaving the Dragons, who were knocked out of the Super League playoffs by Leeds Rhinos last week.

There is a transition period happening for the 2018 Challenge Cup winners, as rising star Joe Chan is also on the move as announced earlier in the year, as he is heading to the NRL with Melbourne Storm, with Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson moving to Warrington Wolves in 2023 as well. It's not all departures, however, as the Dragons have already announced the captures of Wakefield Trinity flyer Tom Johnstone, Hull FC veteran Manu Ma'u and Sydney Roosters legend Sio Siua Taukeiaho, who will all link up with the Perpignan side in the off-season.

I just hope he isn’t a replacement for Bevan!

Whilst watching the Cats game v Leeds I thought "what a slow/past-his-best" player Dean Whare is.

Wherever he ends up is likely to be the likes of Wakey/Fev because at his age and the (lack of) form he showed over the last 2 seasons, who in their right minds would be interested?

I seriously hope this is not true . Whare is way past his sell by date.
I’m far from thrilled with the Toby King signing, but Whare is even worse.!!

I can't believe that we'd be interested in Whare. Unless he's a last minute, stop gap signing he doesn't fit the way that we've been building the squad recently. Very disappointing if true.

Would rather go with Halsall, King and KPP
