Australian giants comment on Kruise Leeming rumour amid Leeds Rhinos exit and NRL speculation
Leeming has been linked to the NRL after his Leeds Rhinos situation was announced on Thursday evening
Kruise Leeming will not be joining North Queensland Cowboys as he prepares to make a shock departure from Leeds Rhinos.
The former Huddersfield Giants man is set for a shock exit from Headingley after being granted permission to pursue a deal elsewhere. Leeming, the club's senior hooker and former captain, was not selected for Leeds' clash with Castleford Tigers tonight after talks surrounding his exit evolved during the week.
Leeming's representatives are believed to have held talks with the Rhinos and an understanding has been reached enabling them to pursue a contract elsewhere with immediate effect.
The 27-year-old is under contract until the end of 2024 but now appears set to leave well before that. A move to the NRL has been mooted and the Cowboys were one of the teams linked with the Yorkshireman.
Yet when asked about any potential interest in Leeming, North Queensland told Rugby League Live: “Our club has never had a single conversation, internally or externally about the player in question.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I don’t class the cowboys as NRL Giants!

Probably not, but they were good to watch when they had JT and Mango playing.

Didn’t post the whole report as it just regurgitates everything said previously just what was mentioned about Wigan link
Carney said on Sky Sports: “It may be the NRL he is headed to.”
He would later add: “There’s rumours circulating that it could be to the NRL and as specific as the North Queensland Cowboys.”
Tonight, after his Wigan Warriors side defeated Huddersfield Giants, Matt Peet was asked if the Warriors would be interested in Leeming.
Peet simply said: “No"
It would be interesting to see the former Dream Team hooker at Wigan. Tonight Cade Cust did some minutes there before being taken off at the end of the game.
Meanwhile, youngster Brad O’Neill was 18th man.
