Rabbitoh's sack two star players

Post by josie andrews »

Premiership winner Kirisome Auva'a has followed backrower Paul Carter out of the exit door at the Rabbitohs with the pair breaching club policies.
Carter was sacked by the club two days ago for turning up late for training after a late night out fuelled by alcohol, and today Auva'a has also been given his marching orders by the club for a second breach of the NRL's drug policy.

In his debut season for the club, Auva'a played a major part in helping the club end their long Premiership winning drought in 2014, that however will seem a long time ago for the centre whose career now lies in tatters.

The 24-year-old was given a mandatory 12-week ban by the NRL following his second breach of the competitions drug policy, and his failure to appeal the ban has left the Bunnies with no choice but to terminate his contract from the club.

In a brief statement announcing the decision, the club said they would “continue to offer welfare assistance and support to Kirisome."

Meanwhile Paul Carter's latest set-back could prove career ending with a chance to redeem himself thrown back in the face of the Souths club.

After he was sacked by Gold Coast for repeated drink-driving offences, he was on a "one strike and you're out" deal with the Bunnies.

He is understood to have checked himself into a Thai rehabilitation facility in a bid to overcome his issues, but it could be too little too later for Carter who is once again without a club.

It has been a terrible season for South Sydney in 2016 with the club lying 12th in the table and they now must make an unlikely charge for the top eight without two of their best performers.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
