LEULUAI LEAVES LEEDS TO TAKE UP WARRINGTON POST

Post by josie andrews »

KYLIE LEULUAI HAS ENDED A 10-YEAR ASSOCIATION WITH LEEDS RHINOS TO BECOME WARRINGTON WOLVES' HEAD OF RUGBY OPERATIONS.

The former Samoa international is the most successful overseas player in Leeds' history, helping them to reach six Grand Finals, five Challenge Cup finals and five World Club Challenge matches before bringing his playing career to a glorious end with victory alongside Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock at Old Trafford two years ago.

Leuluai, who won 10 medals in his time with the Rhinos, took up the role of player welfare officer at Headingley after hanging up his boots and will perform similar duties at the Halliwell Jones Stadium alongside new head coach and former team-mate Steve Price.

Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said: "Kylie is a winner with outstanding attributes. He's compassionate, intelligent and knows what it takes to get success.

"He's going to be a great support to Steve and will enhance the club culture enormously. As well as providing welfare support, Kylie will lead on all rugby operational matters."

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington said: "On behalf of everyone associated with Leeds Rhinos, I would like to thank Kylie Leuluai for his outstanding service to the club for the past decade."

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
