Shaun Johnson signs with Sharks for three years

Post by josie andrews »

Cronulla won’t have money to lure Valentine Holmes back if his NFL stint goes awry after spending almost $3 million to secure Shaun Johnson as his backline replacement.

The Sharks have signed Johnson on a three-year deal in a move that will likely result in Matt Moylan returning to fullback. While the Sharks have room for another outside back – South Sydney three-quarters Braidon Burns and Robert Jennings are targets – any other available funds will be directed towards their forward pack. Manly’s Martin Taupau has been identified as an option, although the Sea Eagles don’t want to let him go.

What chance have we of signing any player of worth when the salary cap in Oz is so much bigger than ours?

Players should be allowed to earn more by doing endorsements or something! Like when Paul Scunthorpe used to do Gillette! And it shouldn’t count on the salary cap either! Just scandalous in this country, it really needs to be raised if the RFL & clubs want it.
