Kyle Turner on his way to Super League with Leeds and London interested

Post by josie andrews »

South Sydney Rabbitohs’ back-rower Kyle Turner is seemingly on his way to England with the Bunnies keen to offload the 2014 Premiership winner.

Super League new boys London Broncos are leading the race for the the 26-year-old, who made only one NRL appearances last season after falling out of favour at Redfern.

Turner spent nearly all of 2018 playing reserve grade for North Sydney Bears and it appears new Rabbitohs’ head coach Wayne Bennett wants to get him off the salary cap.

With no other NRL clubs interested, it seems the two-time Indigenous All Stars representitive is on his way to Super League with Danny Ward seeing him as a valuable addition.

However, Leeds are also showing interest in Turner who may be tempted to link up with new Rhinos’ head coach David Furner, having spent the last two seasons with him at South Sydney.

Furner has made it clear that he still wants to bolster his pack and with Josh Walters and Jack Ormondroyd leaving the club yesterday, Leeds may have room on their salary cap.

Turner himself has experienced a particularly tough few years after bursting onto the scene in 2014 with the Bunnies, helping them win the NRL Grand Final later that year.

A serious spial injury threatened to end his career in 2015, but he returned to become a regular first team member again throughout the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

As mentioned though, Turner has been out of the first team fold at Souths for almost 12 months and Super League clubs will now battle it out to secure his signature.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
