Castleford dealt fresh injury blow as key player ruled out

Castleford’s woeful luck with injuries has worsened after Michael Shenton was ruled out for several months with an ankle injury.

The Tigers captain suffered the injury in the club’s defeat to Catalans and will miss eight to ten weeks.

He joins the likes of Luke Gale, Grant Millington, Jesse Sene-Lefao and Junior Moors on the sidelines.

“We’ve got senior players missing at the moment and that’s where we’re at,” head coach Daryl Powell told BBC Radio Leeds.

“There’s not a lot we can do about it. We’ve just got to get on with what we’ve got.

‘It’s potentially 8 to 10 weeks so it is pretty tough to take for Shenny and for us as well. He’s an influential and important player for us and that gives another opportunity for somebody else.

“We’ve got 19 fit players. There are quite a few young players in that as well. It is what it is, this time of year is always difficult.”
