How do coaches get passed their best? Not disagreeing but interested to hear if you have any thoughts on the subject.
Is it motivation, is it a lack of changing styles/tactics, is it a slow down of the brain!
A good question I think it’s as you say a combination of things plus the game itself just moves on and opens it’s self to new ideas.
What surprised about Smith was how young he is as he seems to have been around for ages,certainly at Wire he was just there far too long,we see of course how it pans out for him
Other than Fergie at UTD and Wenger at Arsenal, there hasn’t been to many example of coaches sustaining high results with similar longevity.

Still had mixed results in his league finishes though. Whether that was intentional, due to injuries or an inability to consistently perform in the league year on year, it is unknown to us all. Probably a combination of all 3.
Must be hard gearing up the team week in week out not only against teams you may have already played numerous times but having it in the back of your head the league finish isn’t the be all and end all.
