Hull FC maybe flying, but they're still not as fancied as Wigan Warriors to win Grand Final

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Hull FC maybe flying, but they're still not as fancied as Wigan Warriors to win Grand Final

Post by josie andrews »

Hull FC’s victory in the south of France yesterday seemed as big a statement of intent as they could make at this stage.

Beating a top-three rival on their home turf in tough conditions and still missing a number of players from their side, Lee Radford’s side racked up 50 points in some style.

Surely those who have continually written off this FC side will start to give them some credit for the season they’re having and they can be looked on as realistic Grand Final contenders? They have after all already won at Warrington this season, with a patched up side too.

Well, while some maybe changing their mind about Hull’s chances, that’s not being totally reflected in the bookmakers’ odds.

FC’s odds on winning at Old Trafford have dropped marginally in the past week, but they’re still behind Wigan Warriors in the betting, despite being six points better off than a Wigan side who at present aren’t even in a play-off position.

FC are priced 12-1 with William Hill and betfair to win the Grand Final, with Wigan either 10/1 or 9/1 with each bookmaker. That’s still a large total for a Hull side who look to be building nicely into the closing months and are yet to welcome back several key names such as Carlos Tuimavave and Gareth Ellis.

Warrington are 7/4 while St Helens are evens favourites at present.

Outside the top four and looking at the odds with William Hill, Catalans Dragons are 14/1, Castleford Tigers 20/1, Salford Red Devils 40/1, Hull KR 500/1 and London 750/1.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Wigan have pedigree.

But if we “click” on the pitch and williams actually plays like a marquee player you never know

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall
