Swinton sign Wigan youngster

Post by josie andrews »

Swinton have signed young Wigan outside back Sam Grant on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old never made his senior debut for the Warriors, but has had loan spells with Leigh and Rochdale in the Championship, and London Skolars in League 1.

“ I’m really looking forward to the season ahead,” he said. “I’m also looking forward to meeting my new team mates and getting involved during pre season. Hopefully I can contribute into making 2020 a good year for both the club and supporters.”

Lions head coach Stuart Littler added: “Sam is a very experienced academy star who has already had some success in his career.

“I am pleased to say after meeting Sam a couple of times he sees us as a good fit for the next stage of his career. Sam will challenge for a centre berth, but he can also adequately cover the wing position.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
