Great Britain forward has been cleared to play in Saturday’s final Test against Papua New Guinea, after escaping punishment for a tackle on New Zealand winger Ken Maumalo.
Bateman pleaded guilty to a careless high tackle, with the Match Review Panel ruling that the incident was a Grade One offence.
The 26-year-old was given 50 demerit points, which could lead to future international suspensions, but has not been suspended or fined.
The Lions are yet to win a game on their Tour, losing twice to New Zealand and once to Tonga so far.

Bateman escapes punishment for ‘careless high tackle’
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Wonder if any NZ players were cited or whatever or is it just open season on GB players?
