Donald Trumps "downplaying the problem" moratlity rate = 1% = 2,9M-6.5M deaths
WHO estimated mortlity rate = 3.5% = 10M - 2.2M deaths

So youre saying not to worry, get out there and spread this about?

Im saying that the reaction to this is completely out of scope to the problem - in fact the reaction is far more damaging.

When its regular flu season people observe certain norms like if you have flu you don't go visit frail and elderly and generally keep yourself to yourself until your better. We dont need to lock down the entire country and cause a global economic crash to simply follow what should be common sense.

If this was infecting 80000 people a day and killing 5000 a day i would say the reaction would be just - but it just isnt - its not even outstripping run of the mill flu which we and every other country deal with every single year of our lives

is it? the country has been left unchecked and largely left to exactly the same conditions as usual and its not even managed to break in to 6 figures yet.

All your stats there are estimates - i have seen nothing in the figures after 6 months of it being out there to suggest it is capable of the reaching the estimates

Does anyone seriously trust the Chinese Communist Party when it comes to telling the truth about COVID.19 numbers? They are the ones who lied about the start of the virus and jailed doctors who warned against it. At the same time they allowed planes to depart worldwide knowing that their virius would spread across the globe.
They are now attempting to change the narrative over COVID.19 to tell their population that China is leading the world in getting rid of the "worldwide" virus as they have the best systems for doing it.
Trump has upset them big time by calling it the "Chinese Virus" which is where it originated. We all know that but the CCP is in full denial about it.

I agree with WF1895 in that compared to "Flu" COVID.19 are small numbers. Compared to "Influenza A" which hits us from time to time the COVID.19 numbers are minute.

They aren’t small numbers. The death rate for over 80’s for coved-19 is 6%. For flu it’s 0.8%.

In general it’s 0.1% v 2.1%. That just what’s happened so far.

We know the yearly stats for flu because we have had it for for years. We don’t know how infectious covid but it’s infection rate looks much higher.

Who to believe, eh? The experts across the world who have spent lifetimes studying these diseases, or some bloke on the internet who reckons it's nothing much to worry about? Even Trump and Johnson, for all their woefulness, aren't saying that.
