Odds to be new Hull FC coach revealed

Post by josie andrews »

Sydney Roosters assistant coach Craig Fitzgibbon is the 2/1 favourite to replace Lee Radford as the next permanent Hull FC coach.

The 42-year-old, who spent two seasons as a Hull player in 2010 and 2011, has been backed to be the Black and Whites new boss by traders at Sporting Index.

Although better known as a spread betting firm, Sporting Index now have a fixed odds arm and have come up with a full list of names on who could take over at the KCOM Stadium.

Fitzgibbon is the clear favourite though having helped the Roosters win back-to-back NRL titles under Trent Robinson, and early signs are he would be a popular choice with FC fans too.

Next on the list are trio Nathan Brown, Shane Flanagan and Danny Ward, with all three priced at 5/1 to take over the reigns at the 2016 and 2017 Challenge Cup winners.

Brown is currently a free agent after leaving Newcastle Knights in August and has vast Super League experience having coached both Huddersfield and St Helens, winning a Super League title with the latter.

Flanagan is the current assistant coach at St George Illawarra Dragons and despite having a controversial background, his pedigree can’t be understated having won an NRL premiership as Cronulla Sharks head coach in 2016.

Ward’s coaching abilities came to the fore last season when he almost defied the odds to guide London Broncos to Super League survival after they were tipped by many not to win a game.

Further down the list is former Wigan star Trent Barrett who is priced at 7/1 to be the Airlie Birds next boss, while the club’s current assistant coach Kieron Purtill is 8/1.

Former South Sydney Rabbitohs head coach Jason Taylor is next at 10/1, with ex-Hull and St Helens half-back Sean Long a surprise inclusion at 20/1.

From here are a number of outside bets including current Super League coaches Steve McNamara (25/1), Ian Watson (25/1) and Daryl Powell (33/1).

Current player and FC legend Gareth Ellis is 50/1, with former stars of the noughties Paul Cooke and Richard Horne both priced at 66/1.

All odds to be the next Hull FC head coach can be found on the Sporting Index website by clicking here.

As always, please gamble responsibly.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
