Soliola relives the night Ruben Wiki hit him to ‘somewhere in the Pacific’

Post by josie andrews »

Tune into our new show Fox League Live on Channel 502 every day at 5pm and on Saturday at 3pm.

Sia Soliola was in Disneyland.

Or as our man Andrew Voss put it: “he’s in the Cook Islands, or somewhere in the Pacific.”

Soliola was gone.

The Roosters were facing the Warriors in Auckland back in the 2008 finals series.

Soliola, playing for the Roosters, leads the kick-off charge.

But coming in the opposite direction is Ruben Wiki.

With the scores nip and tuck, Wiki made a beeline for Soliola, ball tucked under his arm.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

The shoulder charge wasn’t banned then.

Didn’t this come up last season with Joe Philbin from Wire?
He broke Willie Isa’s cheekbone in the playoffs in 2018 & he missed the Grand Final, then last year at Magic he did the same sort of tackle with his shoulder to Joe Greenwood & caused the concussion he was plagued with last season.
