Toulouse launch bid for Super League

Post by josie andrews »

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

What about Featherstone?

They should arrange the court cases in a playoff format!

They've made some big signings, I wonder if they believe they've a good chance being admitted. It would be a good move for French RL and for Catalans having a domestic fixture, and as it's also in a RL playing area of southern France plus they already have a decent squad of players, who were top of the Championship when it was halted by Covid, and were favourites to go up.
They have also moved grounds into the centre of the city, with great facilities they now share with the ru club, having a 20,000 capacity.
I hope it's them who get the nod and can only strengthen the standard there, and in turn, eventually give England tougher International competition.

This could get quite messy as i am sure that there are quite a few teams who will stake a claim to being in the best place to fill the final SL team.

Leigh - we all know Derek is quite vocal and been on twitter quite a bit recently
Fev - chairman claiming Fev should be in, whilst at the same time calling SL for being a closed shop and chucking Toronto out
London & Toulouse will probably both fancy it as teams from outside the traditional RL heartlands

sure there will be others who would fancy their chances too.

i think where part of the problem will lie is the current unknowns as to when the season will restart, and in what capacity. Will a championship team be able to pull together a team capable of playing, but more importantly competing in SL next year? They obviously wont be flush with cash, so may find it damned difficult to attract players unless they are given some form of guarantee that they will be 1. in SL and 2. will get paid

and i suppose the final thing to consider will be the SL chairmen who want to have their pie and eat it, so spreading the sky money between another team, isnt going to be an attractive proposition
