Price confirms Inglis fitness doubt

Post by josie andrews »

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price says Greg Inglis is “at long odds” to make his debut in Round One of the Super League against Castleford Tigers.

Inglis came out of retirement to sign for the club ahead of the 2021 season, but Price believes the 34-year-old needs to get stronger before he will play.

He was training with the squad before their 34-12 win over Leigh Centurions on Friday night. Although, he was not even named on the bench.

There was also reports coming from Australia that Inglis had picked up an injury, with Price neither confirming or denying the reports.

He said: “I cant confirm with Inglis. We just feel like him and Sita (Akauola) need a bit more in their legs. He has done a bit of training, he hasn’t played for so long and we have a responsibility for getting his body right.

“It is an outside chance he will be ready for round one.”

He also confirmed his side had no further injury worries after the game, despite Blake Austin limping off. Captain Jack Hughes and Mike Cooper were also not involved.

On them, he added: “Hughes and Cooper will be alright for next week. Austin will be fine. just copped a bang on the knee. Everyone else is healthy.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
