Castleford Tigers on verge of signing Warrington Wolves star

Post by josie andrews »

Lee Radford has been busy getting his squad in place for 2022

Castleford Tigers are set to sign Warrington Wolves' utility back Jake Mamo.

Rugby League Live can reveal that the versatile Aussie will leave the Wire at the end of the season and looks set to return to West Yorkshire with the Tigers.

The former Huddersfield Giants star joined Warrington in 2019 and has made over 40 appearances for the club, scoring 16 tries.

Mamo, 26, can play fullback, wing or centre and will give new Tigers head coach Lee Radford plenty of options across the three-quarter line.

Radford has been busy since taking the Tigers role, having already secured deals for George Lawler and Joe Westerman.

Bureta Faraimo and Greg Minikin are two others believed to be on his shopping list as he prepares to build a new-look squad for the upcoming season.

Changes are afoot at Castleford. Peter Mata'utia and Oliver Holmes are set to join Daryl Powell at Warrington while Adam Milner is also expected to leave, with a move to Hull KR a strong possibility.

Michael Shenton and Grant Millington could both retire and the likes of Jesse Sene-Lefao and Jordan Turner are off-contract.

Talk continues to surround Jake Trueman, with Warrington understood to have had a number of bids rejected by the club as they look to prize him away from the Jungle.

While fans are understandably concerned, the club remains active with its incomings, with plenty of plans in place to further enhance their squad in time for 2022.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Think he's quite a useful and versitile back Jake Mamo. Seen much worse than him.

Mamo seems decent to me.
As for Westerman, this I can't understand. The last time he was at Cas they couldn't get rid fast enough but couldn't dump him due to his contract.
Wouldn't touch him with barge pole!
