Salford’s clash with Leeds rescheduled

Post by josie andrews »

Salford Red Devils’ home game against Leeds Rhinos this weekend has now been rescheduled for Sunday 27th June, 1pm kick-off.

Super League clubs are eligible to postpone a fixture if they have lost four or more players to international duties and Leeds have exercised this ruling after three of their players were named in this Friday’s England squad, whilst two Rhinos players have been selected for the Combined Nations All Stars.

Salford Red Devils director Paul King said: “We’re disappointed with the outcome, we wanted to proceed as planned on Friday having had tickets on sale for a while but unfortunately that was removed as an option for us.

“Ultimately, we had a choice of playing three games over the next eight days or seven games in 28 days in August, which would have put far too much strain on the squad over a prolonged period, we already have a significant injury list.

“We are determined to put player welfare first within the confines of a crowded fixture list and we will continue in our search to bring in players to help increase squad numbers and minimise the risk of further injury.”

All those who have already bought tickets for the original date, your tickets will remain valid for Sunday.

Any tickets that are bought from now until 10am online on game day, will be issued with the new date.
We understand that some of you may now not be able to attend our Round 11 home again due to this reschedule, so if you require a refund, please email ticketoffice@ajbellstadium.co.uk and a member of the stadium staff will get back to you.

If you are a season ticket holder who cannot attend Sunday’s game, please email ticketoffice@ajbellstadium.co.uk so we can free up your space to sell to someone else for Round 11.

Season ticket holders can still watch the game on Our League, which has now been extended to Round 14.

We can now also confirm that due to the restrictions currently in place on supporters not being able to eat or drink in the terraces, fans in North and South stands will be able to leave from 10 minutes before halftime, where they can purchase food and drink in the marquee outside the stadium. You will receive a stamp to get back into the AJ Bell Stadium and must be back inside the ground before the start of the second half.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
