Championship match off between London Broncos and Widnes; Super League fixtures involving Challenge Cup finalists Castleford and St Helens are in doubt; Leigh vs Warrington on Thursday already called off
Matches across all three tiers of professional rugby league this weekend are set to fall victim to the rise in Covid-19 infections.
Two fixtures in Betfred League 1 have already been postponed, while Sunday's Championship match between London Broncos and Widnes has been cancelled.
There are also serious doubts over the Super League fixtures featuring last Saturday's Challenge Cup finalists, with Castleford and St Helens both thought to have reported positive tests.
St Helens, who were victorious at Wembley, are due to host Hull KR on Friday, while Castleford are scheduled to play Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday.
A decision is expected on Wednesday morning and, if both fixtures are postponed, efforts will be made to rearrange Hull KR's trip to Perpignan, which was originally due to be played on July 5, in order to ensure the Catalans do not lose another home game.

Rugby league: Matches at all three professional levels under threat from Covid-19
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Are football and union having similar issues? Or does league need to review its covid regulations.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

What worries me is the situation in Australia. Not long back, it seemed like they'd got past covid there, crowds were back, all seemed good. Now, NSW is a no-go area, the whole NRL has decamped to Queensland... and all this in a country that never had covid anywhere near as bad as we do.
Meanwhile in this country, Johnson is opening everything up just as cases are spiking again. I was reading the other day about the situation in Israel, another country which 'opened up too soon', and they are suffering like the Aussies. Will we never learn from the experience of other countries?

It seems that we won’t and by opening up the mistakes are being repeated, but all you get from Johnson is vaccination ,vaccination vaccination as this is the cure to COVID which of course it isn’t.moto748 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 4:13 pm What worries me is the situation in Australia. I will be amazed if we don’t enter another lockdown before the autumn and if we don’t given the pandemic is raging still worldwide you have to wonder why not?
