Salford Red Devils make move for Wigan Warriors youngster

FFS? 🤬 He will definitely come back to haunt us. Good Luck Amir 👏🏼👏🏼
Exclusive: The Red Devils are in hot pursuit of the explosive hooker

Wigan Warriors youngster Amir Bourouh is closing in on a new Super League deal with Salford Red Devils.

Rugby League Live can reveal the livewire hooker has attracted interest from more than one top flight club after it was confirmed he would be leaving the Warriors at the end of the season.

But it appears that a move to the AJ Bell Stadium is the likely outcome for the 20-year-old, who caught the eye earlier this year with an impressive loan spell at hometown club Halifax Panthers.

Bourouh was a star performer for Fax, who are currently third in the Championship, before being recalled by the Warriors last month.

After an impressive cameo against Huddersfield Giants, Bourouh was in excellent form for the Warriors during their annihilation of Leigh Centurions, creating a try with a stunning break from inside his own half.

Head coach Richard Marshall is understood to have been keeping a close eye on the hooker, with Salford in need of reinforcement in the position. Andy Ackers is the club's only recognised senior hooker, with Danny Addy, Dec Patton and Chris Atkin all filling in at times during the season.

But Bourouh's recent performance saw the Red Devils pull the trigger on their move for the speedster and, despite other interest, it appears highly likely they will land their man.

He will be the club's latest signing ahead of 2022. Matty Russell has completed a move to the club for next season, as has Brisbane Broncos halfback Brodie Croft. Widnes winger Deon Cross also appears likely to join the club next season.

Who are the players in front of him given he’s playing Friday with Powell out? Surely if he’s behind several players then one of them would be in the squad before him?
