Lee Briers will not be joining Leigh Centurions as their new head coach from 2022.
That’s according to the former Warrington halfback himself, after the current Wolves assistant addressed a question given to him on social media site, Twitter
Briers had responded to a post by Leigh owner Derek Beaumont after the chairman had taken part in a Leigh to Newcastle charity bike ahead of the Magic Weekend back at the start of September.
The ex-Super League playmaker used a clapping emoji to reply to Beaumont’s success, with a Leigh fan taking the opportunity to ask Briers whether he would be heading to the Leigh Sports Village in 2022.
Great club mate and got a great owner in @derek_beaumont but no I’m not the new head coach,” Briers tweeted.
It follows a horrible season for the Centurions with just two wins all year, as their relegation after merely one season back in the top flight was confirmed weeks ago.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
