Ryan Hampshire attracting the attention of two clubs

Post by josie andrews »

Ryan Hampshire is said to be a target for both the Leigh Centurions and Bradford Bulls following his release from Wakefield Trinity.

A move to Leigh would see the electric playmaker reunite with ex-Trinity head coach Chris Chester who is currently serving as the Centurions’ head of rugby under owner Derek Beaumont.

Bradford, however, are in need of a fullback following the departure of Brandon Pickersgill to rivals Featherstone Rovers.

The 26-year-old re-joined the club earlier in 2021 after his initial release and went on to make 13 appearances, scoring five tries.

Hampshire registered played 85 appearances for the West Yorkshire club overall, scoring 28 tries and kicking 129 goals.

I’d like to thank Ryan for all his contributions to the club,” chief executive Michael Carter said.

Hampshire joined Trinity from Leigh in 2018, whilst he came through the Wigan Warriors academy and had a short period at Castleford Tigers.

Leigh have continued their rebuilding for the 2022 Championship season with the likes of Jy Hitchcox and Luis Roberts whilst they made a statement yesterday morning with the capture of ex-Canberra Raiders fullback Caleb Aekins – which could give them the upper hand.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
