Kevin Sinfield completes 24 hour, 101-mile run for MND research – video

Post by josie andrews »

The former Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield has raised more than £1m for motor neurone disease charities after running the equivalent of almost four marathons in 24 hours. Sinfield's 101-mile run from Leicester to Leeds was split into 7km sections, each of which had to be completed within 60 minutes.

The challenge raised money for the MND Association and the Leeds Hospitals Charity to build a new care home in the name of his former teammate Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019. He told BBC Breakfast he was 'broken' after crossing the finish line.

Well done incredible achievement 👏🏼👏🏼

Definitely a contender for a knighthood in the New Years Honours List now.

Nearly 5 miles every hour for 24 hours non stop. That's some going.

If there is any honour left in the Honours system, he should be made a Lord, never mind a knight.

Well done to him 👏👏

Fantastic and superhuman effort. I would have no qualms about Sinfield being honoured for his contribution to charity. Let’s be honest, he is more worthy than 99% of those who do get recognised.

Well done to all those people who, yet again, donated the money that Kev has raised. As ever, they are the real heroes in any charity fundraising.
