How many times each Super League club has been selected for TV - with one club more popular than any other

Post by josie andrews »

Some clubs are on almost every week, others are barely on at all.

Along with the release of the Super League fixtures, the first 29 televised games from the competition have also been revealed.

Channel 4 have revealed, er, four of the games they'll be broadcasting, while Sky's picks up to round 11 have also been confirmed.

And it's fair to say that some clubs have proven more popular than others with the broadcaster - with one team proving to be the most in demand of all.

Leeds Rhinos will be broadcast more than any other team in the opening rounds of the competition, with a staggering eight of their 11 matches being selected for television coverage.

That's one more than both Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors, who will be playing for the cameras seven times early doors.

The champions, St Helens and Castleford will be on six times during the same period.

At the other end of the table, two clubs will feature the least, with Salford Red Devils and the newly-promoted Toulouse Olympique only being picked on two occasions.

Last year's semi-finalists, Hull KR, have only been chosen for three broadcasts, somewhat surprising given how well-received their expansive style of play was last year. Huddersfield and Wakefield are also set to be shown three times during the 11-round period.

Number of fixtures picked for TV by club (first 11 rounds)

Castleford Tigers 6

Catalans Dragons 5

Huddersfield Giants 3

Hull FC 6

Hull KR 3

Leeds Rhinos 8

Salford Red Devils 2

St Helens 6

Toulouse Olympique 2

Wakefield Trinity 3

Warrington Wolves 7

Wigan Warriors 7

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
