Just been reading about Wakefield’s stadium revamp and it all looks great for the club and the game, but mentions a new 4G playing surface.
Really hope this doesn’t happen, every game we played at Widnes turned into a lottery of bouncing balls, then a struggle for the month after with numerous knee injuries.

Bloody hell 4g I’ll bet my phone won’t work near it
Re: Wakefield new 4G pitch
4g is what they will eventually spend doing up the ground.
Re: Wakefield new 4G pitch
4G is completely different to 3. The studs don’t really stick into the surface like the old style pitches and there’s a lot of give. The ground is still a bit hard tho and would require player rotation and players suspected of knee and ankle injuries to sit it out.
The bounce of the ball isn’t as wild and I’d probably say it’s the best thing about the latest generation it acts like proper grass, you used to see the ball bounce 10 feet in the air of a grubber, you rarely see that on the new pitches.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
