The destination of the 2025 Rugby League World Cup has been revealed

Post by josie andrews »

The Rugby League World Cup is the pinnacle of the sport of rugby league.

Every player wants to represent their country at the biggest tournament event that only comes around every four years.

And, hosting it in their native country is about the biggest milestone a nation can have.

In 2025, the country taking that mantle will be France, the French Rugby League Federation confirmed today.

The French Prime Minister Jean Castex will hold a launch for the tournament on Tuesday 11 January where he will reveal the tournament details.

L’Hexagon was responsible for hosting the very first Rugby League World Cup back in 1954 and will now be given the third opportunity to put on a show – after being given rights for the second time in 1972.

The full press release given by the FRLF said: “Luc Lacoste President of the French Rugby League Federation and Hon Troy Grant, President of the International Rugby League, invite the media to the press conference announcing the award of the Rugby World Cup to France in 2025.

“The Prime Minister will announce the launch of the Rugby League World Cup, which will be organised by France in 2025.

This international event, which has not been organised in France for more than 50 years, will help promote the influence of French sport and is intended to incorporate the entire territory, by being organised in around 40 towns.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
