Croft named August player of the month.

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Croft named August player of the month.

Post by josie andrews »

Salford Red Devils half back Brodie Croft has been named August Player of the Month.

Croft, who has also been included in the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel shortlist, was instrumental for the Red Devils in August during their run to the 2022 Play-Offs.

It is the first time Croft has won the award since arriving at Salford at the start of the year - and he was unanimously voted as this month’s winner thanks to his standout performances between Rounds 22 and 27.

Croft has been an integral part of the Red Devils rise this year and a worthy winner of this month’s award. He led his side to some huge victories in August which included notable wins against Huddersfield Giants, Catalans Dragons and Castleford Tigers.

The Red Devils half produced a Player of the Match performance in front of the Sky cameras against the Tigers in Round 26 to help Salford confirm their spot in the top six. It was a typically complete performance from the former Junior Kangaroo, setting up and scoring a try, making two clean breaks and running for a huge 191 metres.

And Croft is loving his time at Salford and the exciting brand of rugby they are producing on the field. He said: "I'm very humbled to receive this award. We've been playing some really good footy as a team and I'm loving playing each week with this great group of guys!"

He will now hope to add to his individual honours list next week when the 2022 Man of Steel is announced during the Betfred Super League Awards Night. The event will take place at Headingley Stadium on Tuesday Night and shown live on Super League’s YouTube Channel.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
