Radley is a big plus, what about Sutton?
Thompson is in the squad. Can’t see Sutton playing many games under wane 😂
Thanks, hopefully he can overcome concussion issues.

Luke will be fine. Was out for a while back over here when his mum was ill while also recovering from a nasty concussion. Came back and played a game for the bulldogs but sat out for the rest of the season. Really important player for us

Can’t believe hall get in ahead of marshy or Joe burgess.
Worst team I’ve ever seen for England, some bad choices of players

I’m surprised Liam Marshall isn’t in the squad.

Rugby League fans react as Shaun Wane names 'weak' England squad for upcoming World Cup

The England boss has named his 24-man-squad.

England's World Cup squad was announced this Friday morning with plenty of fans reacting to the news. Shaun Wane has included the likes of Kai Pearce-Paul and Marc Sneyd in his squad, but there is no place for Hull FC's Jake Connor, despite statistically being the most creative player in Super League this year.

There are six uncapped players in the squad, with England regulars John Bateman, Elliot Whitehead, Ryan Hall, Tom Burgess and Tommy Makinson included alongside captain Sam Tomkins. The likes of Andy Ackers have been deservedly rewarded for their excellent club form, with young stars Jack Welsby and Mikolaj Oledski set to feature. Victor Radley and Herbie Farnworth are also included from the NRL.

Fans on Twitter have been posting their thoughts, especially the omission of Hull FC's Jake Connor, with one user @muggleton1985 tweeting: "Unbelievable no Jake Connor, especially after Lomax pulled out. Sorry no World Cup for us this year." Another @AlexJHilton added: "But no room for the most creative player in @SuperLeague. What a joke."

Sneyd's inclusion has also split fans. One user @exrlpanda said: "Probably five or six teams with better halves, at least. Hastings had to be there. Can’t say they didn’t want ring-ins either because they’ve picked one." Another @leeharrison2505 was happy with the inclusion: "Welsby and Sneyd in half's for me. Simple."

Ryan Hall's inclusion has also been well-commented on. One user @bradley_clarke posted: "We all know Wane likes big teams so people missing out like Hall over Marshall is sacrilege but I can see his angle. Kruise Leeming is quality but Wane knows what he’s getting from MM and Ackers will still be a breath of fresh air." Another @rhino1379 added: "Wild card Ryan Hall? Brilliant first tackle and always scores for England."

General thoughts on the squad are mixed with England missing key players to injury. One user @nickwood89 posted: "Weak on paper, but then Wane is not a technical coach. He's a motivator. All the players are full time professionals, they just need discipline and motivation to succeed. Leaves me worried we might not beat Samoa, or reach the semi finals."

Another @mikelavelle93 added: "Some questionable choices in this squad, namely Williams, KPP and McIlorum who I think are lucky to be selected. I also think it’s a risk only taking 2 specialist wingers. But the squad is what it is now so let’s just see what the team can do."

One final user @mike96hughes said: "If we're being brutally honest it's nowhere near as strong as the 2017 squad. Wane's been dealt a pretty tough hand considering he's only had one game against an actual country in 3 years and now this is the best squad available to him for a World Cup."

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

They won’t be worried about us that’s for sure.
Think Samoa, Tonga and the kiwis are ahead of us with this squad

While there is some very strange selections, people need to to remember you can't just pick the "best players" you also need a squad that can play together.

I'm not fussed that there no conner/hasting/hardaker as they are all bad influences in the camp.

Sadly looking at the players available in SL I dont have confidence for this world Cup but we have alot.of young players who will be in their prime for the next one.

I'm amused by the Wane isn't a technical coach he's a motivator, as if he's won the titles he did just from motivating players.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.
