World Cup is pointless in rugby league.
The level between teams is massive with a lot of them

Hard to argue to be fair, but unless the Aussies start to take the international game seriously then it’s doomed to have blow outs like this.

Jeez, the positivity. You've just seen the best side in the world (arguably) against one of the weakest. And that's what you'll get in Cup competitions. It doesn't make it pointless. It would be the same if the ABs played some no-marks.

Well I agree with fozzie about that. For all Meninga may say, the simple truth is that if we want more international rugby league, it is squarely in the hands of the NRL to facilitate that. And if they did, I'm sure England and every other nation would jump to it. But they don't.

Rules have to be firmed up regarding playing for one country only. At present players can move from representing one country as their fancy takes them . Mickley Mac is the current example. If a player opts to play for Scotland or Ireland for instance to get a go in the World Cup because England or Australia don't want him at that present time it is surley not right that they can move to one of the A listed teams further down the line if their form improves or they become a more mature player . It gives the associate countries no continuity at all . You would be better off having a top 6 nation tournament to avoid these massacres.

Cases in point was the 3 Henderson brothers playing together for Scotland in a World Cup then at the next World Cup 1 or 2 of them (can't remember) wanting to have a crack with England unsuccessfully I think.

Mark Calderwood training with Scotland World Cup squad prior to the 2008 gets called up by Tony Smith to play for England just prior to getting on the plane to Australia

And don't get me started on about Danny "Braveheart " Brough ha ha ha :D :D :D

Rant over.

That's all well and good but Samoa and tonga wouldn't be half as competitive if it was like that

Until the international game is firmed up countries playing not just the big 3 but tonga,PNG come over and play england and the home nations plus France then the international game and the game in general is doomed to remain a marginalised sport.

The Aussies and the NRL are the key,but given they see origin and the nrl itself before the world game then we as a sport have issues, let's not forget the sport promised an international calander 10 years ago we are still waiting for it.

So yes it is linked.
