Hull KR's trip to Wakefield Trinity axed from TV due to impending pitch issues

Post by josie andrews »

The round six clash will not be live on Sky Sports.

Hull KR's game against Wakefield Trinity next week will not be shown live on Sky Sports. This was requested by the RFL and RL Commercial following the recent issues regarding the playing surface at the Be Well Support Stadium.

As Hull Live reported earlier in the week, the venue still remains in doubt, but the RFL are stressing that as it stands, the all-Yorkshire clash remains scheduled for the Be Well Support Stadium on March 24. Sky Sports will now show the Betfred Super League fixture between Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils instead.

Things could change in the coming days, but Trinity's hybrid pitch remains subject to an inspection early next week. Championship frontrunners Featherstone Rovers have offered Post Office Road to Wakefield before, and that seems the second-best option at the moment.

Trinity are away at Salford Red Devils this week, taking some pressure off the surface. But next week's clash with the Robins is still up in the air. Given there is some time before the fixture takes place, it provides some time for everyone involved. For now, the focus is firmly on the trip to Perpignan, with Wakefield's pitch issue out of the Robins' control.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
