Super League star offered huge deal by “desperate” club

Post by josie andrews »

Wests Tigers are looking for a new halfback with the club seemingly unconvinced by Luke Brooks.

Brooks has been linked with a move to Leeds Rhinos as consequence with Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer both in the final years of their contract.

The Tigers are very keen then on signing a number seven even though they let go of former Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors halfback Jackson Hastings who is doing well at Newcastle Knights.

They have missed out on the likes of Cameron Munster and Mitchell Moses and have been told by Warrington Wolves CEO Karl Fitzpatrick that George Williams is going nowhere.

Thus, in what has been labelled as a “desperate” move by the Tigers they have offered Catalans Dragons halfback a huge $1.5 million two year deal.

This was revealed on Fox League’s NRL 360.

It stinks of desperation,” said NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent said.

“What it does is it delays this whole five-year plan they’ve got. Every Tigers fan got sold on the five-year plan?

“Sheensy there for two years then Benji to take over for three more years and the best solution they come up with to fix their problems is to go to a halfback that hasn’t played in the competition for several years who is about to turn 34 years old, and chuck the two halves they’ve got out, one of which is on $1 million a year.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
