Leigh Leopards set for double forward swoop including St Helens international

Post by josie andrews »

St Helens prop Dan Norman and Swinton Lions' emerging talent Louis Brogan are heading to Leigh Leopards

Leigh Leopards have lined up another two British forwards in the aftermath of landing a deal for Owen Trout. Rugby League Live understands Leythers are set to sign off deals for St Helens prop Dan Norman and Swinton Lions' emerging talent Louis Brogan.

Norman, 25, is an Ireland international who is set to depart the Super League champions at the end of the season. Coming in at 6ft 5, the towering forward started his career at Widnes Vikings before a spell at London Broncos. He joined St Helens in 2021 but has found his opportunities limited, playing just 15 times. He did spend a short loan spell at Leigh last season.

The emergence of George Delaney has seen Norman drop further down the pecking order but he now appears set to be handed another Super League opportunity with Leigh, who have an objective of expanding the size of their squad for next season.

That has also opened the door for Brogan, a 23-year-old forward who is the latest young talent given an opportunity at the Lions, following in the footsteps of Matty Ashton, Andy Ackers, Frankie Halton and Chris Atkin.

A utility forward, Swinton brought him in from Leigh Miners Rangers as a teenager and has represented England at youth level. He has made 58 appearances for the Lions.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
